The New Teen Titans (1980-1984) #27

"But, just then… there is no sound or smel to herald her appearance, just smoke appearing with the suddenness of thought. Raven, mistress of mysticism, has moved through the dimensional barriers, drawn by the sense of something quite… sick. Death hangs heavily in the air… and it fairly drives the young empath mad!”
Sometimes I post panels because I like them. And I like this panel of Raven a lot.

The New Teen Titans (1980-1984) #26

"See, Kory. Chase handled it without us. Sometimes we forget we’re not always needed.”
Okay, I’m going to divulge a bit here into personal interpretation and how I really, genuinely feel a smaller moment in canon actually can be seen as having a hugely important impact on a character. This time, as it so often is, we’re talking about Dick.
This statement — about how they’re not always needed — and how Dick seems relieved and almost reassured here that the representatives of the justice system are capable of doing their job? It’s turned completely on its head.
Dick allows a situation to play itself out because he’s proving to himself and Kory that superheroes aren’t necessary for every moment of the day, that it’s not selfish for them to afford some personal time for themselves, when it ends up putting a child in the hospital.
In modern times, Dick is well known as a workaholic, he practically works himself to death and often has to have family and friends step in and stop him from crashing and burning from all the pressure and tasks… and it often doesn’t work until he already hits rock bottom. This is often put on Bruce and being a “Bat” in general, but I’ve never thought it was that simple.
Dick has a history of being self critical to a frightening degree, and often believes he is responsible for every thing and one he’s in contact with. For one moment he tries to let go and tries to put himself and his loved one’s before these self implemented responsibilities, it ends in disaster.
I think this moment and his relationship with Adrian Chase have a much larger impact on Dick’s behavior in New Teen Titans and beyond than most fans give credit.

"And I can’t believe we’re finally on a real date.”
Why are all the Titans so pretty? I could look at them for hours.
Also, it should really be my goal someday to make a photoset of Dick’s colorful suits & clothes because I love it.

"You two enjoy yourselves. I’ve got a long overdue date with a certain handsome college history professor. Mr. Terry Long and I have a lot of catching up to do… and chaperones are not permitted.”
To anyone who says that the Titans couldn’t be naughty and humorous…
In any case, it cracks me up that it’s established enough with Dick’s friends to know that if anyone can keep the Bats in line it’s going to be Alfred.
